Beach Day!

Our Memorial Day weekend started out wonderfully with a trip down to Seaside on Friday. It was a beautiful, but incredibly windy day. It didn't stop us from enjoying some time on the sand. Alex loved it most of all. Our last trip to the beach in '08 he was still only crawling. Our little man sure did love running in the sand, picking up ever shell he could find and being chased and thrown in the air by mommy and daddy. Mommy loved taking pictures with her new camera to remember the fun day!
He ran, and ran, and ran some more. He was so incredibly happy running in the sand!
Watching the sand fall through his fingers. Super cute, except he was really concerned about how dirty his hands got. He really doesn't like dirty hands!

What a fun day!

New Words

Hard to believe it, but our little man is 20 months old now! He's talking up a storm and here are some of his new favorite things to say.

Yellow - he says this for all colors he doesn't know
Orntch - (orange) he actually knows this color
Moke - (milk)
I wan dooose - (I want juice) His favorite thing to say
Doood an Ki-yee - (Jude and Kylee)
Oh man! - One of my personal favorites!
Um, NO! - (He gets this from mommy)
Bobby - (Baby)

There are many many more. He stringing along 3, 4 and 5 word sentences now. It's so nice to have him be able to communicate and when he's fussing say "use your words!" and he can!

In case you're wondering what he's doing he's holding up one finger to show you that he's 1 year old! It's just he's pointing towards his ear....

Beth Moore Weekend

Last month I had the privilege of attending the Beth Moore conference in Portland with some good friends. It was truly a blessed event worshipping and digging into the word with more than 7,000 other women. As you can see Marcy and Tara had some face down time before we got there.... In truth there was a weird noise and with the help of Stephanie's father-in-law we were able to take care of it.

We enjoyed a delicious dinner at Spaghetti Factory and ate way too much!

We also enjoyed some time playing. We introduced Stephanie to IKEA which is an important event in a girls' life!

Alex's New Guitar

Our one man band. Thank you, Mrs. Kris for my awesome new guitar!

Of course blue bear has to play a little too.

To the ZOO!

On Monday we spent a fun, sunny day at Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium. This was Alex's first trip to the zoo and he absolutely loved it! Seth and I enjoyed it too. Half way through Alex fell asleep which was pretty funny too. We heard a sudden thud and looked down and he'd dropped his bowl of snacks out of the stroller and was dead to the world. Good times. Here's a sampling of pictures from our day.
Going down the otter slide.
Watching with daddy....
Alex loved watching the animals...we couldn't get him to look at the camera ever!
Watching the big fish swim.
Seth and I enjoyed the zoo too!

Easter!

We had a wonderful time preparing for and celebrating Easter this year. We dyed eggs with Alex for the first time. He wanted to throw the eggs more than dye them, but overall I think he enjoyed the process. Seth and I had fun too!

Here's Alex in his Easter clothes all ready for church. We had a wonderful time at church celebrating Christ's resurrection! And of course I always love seeing all the kiddos dressed up in their Easter finest!
We spent the afternoon with the Erickson's having a yummy dinner and too many desserts! Alex hunted for goldfish cracker (cacko's) stuffed eggs in the house (it was pouring down rain) and just generally enjoying all the attention. (Let's just say he was definitely worn out by the end of the day!) It was a great day and weekend!

Alex's Fort

Today we spent a good chunk of our morning in our fort (aka the kitchen chairs and a blanket). Alex thought it was pretty cool to sit in there and do puzzles, read books and play peak-a-boo with me outside. We also did some practice Easter egg hunts (I don't have pictures because I was helping him) so we could be ready for Sunday!
